Back Home

Tell me why is it
I have to hang upside down
Just to see
The roots
Of this tree

Over and over
I climb up and down
To watch the
world change
hands with the sky

My head gets real heavy and
my arms hang down below me
My legs hold on tight
But it sure beats being lonely tonight

If I stay too long it gets hard to find my way back home

Its crazy when
she tells me that she really cares
she comes clean and
turns her back
all at once

She used to look to me
She used to dream in my arms
We climbed so high
there was no need
to look down

But somehow we lost our way

I stand here at the edge
A dark canyon in between us
Yellin’
“Can you feel (hear) me now?”

Run to me
Run away from me
We hide from
All the empty echoes

My heart gets real heavy
My head hangs below me
I hold on tight but
I’m sitting here lonely tonight

I must've stayed too long because I never found my way home...

Old man on the corner
His hair blowing across his face
The cold winter
It pushes against his back

He leans against the light
His breath scattered into the night
He toes the snow
piling at his feet

Wondering about the time
That he couldn’t show her
He gave his heart away and
It was handed back to him

Across the hands of time there’s no telling what love may not bring
